Elemental Dragon (Volume I) Prologue: The Beginning

Long ago, an event occurred that forever marked the history of the Elemental World.
At that time, only small settlements with minimal populations existed across the Elemental World. The people of this land possessed the ability to control the flow of Vital Energy, which granted them the power to manipulate one of four elements: Water, Earth, Wind, or Fire.
These villages had their own hierarchies, led by a group of wise individuals known as the Council of Mayors, who served as the political leaders of each settlement.
In one of their meetings, the mayors made a decisive choice: to separate the settlements. Over time, population growth within the groups had become unmanageable, leading to increasing conflicts over territory. To prevent further disputes, they decided to divide the people into four major groups.
This led to the creation of four great settlements, each consisting of individuals attuned to the same flow of Elemental Energy—the name given to the life force that grants the ability to control the elements in the Elemental World.
Each group of people, now aligned with a single elemental nature, formed unified communities according to their elemental affinity.
The four mayors separated as well, becoming political leaders of their respective groups. They agreed to spread out across the four cardinal directions, establishing the settlements far apart: Wind-element users moved west, Fire-element users moved north, Earth-element users settled in the south, and Water-element users headed east. The Water settlement, unique among them, was founded on a vast island far from the mainland, in the middle of the ocean.
Years passed after this division, and the settlements grew into the four great powers of the Elemental World:
- The Wind Nation in the West
- The Fire Nation in the North
- The Earth Nation in the South
- The Water Nation in the East
The development of these nations was slow in their early stages.
Some communities chose not to join any of the major groups. As a result, scattered towns and clans remained at the center of the Elemental World—families who preserved their original traditions and rejected the proposal made by the mayors.
The Elemental World was still being shaped by its inhabitants, but then came an event that changed their lives forever.
Suddenly, enormous and unfamiliar beings appeared across the world.
These colossal creatures were armored from head to toe in exoskeletal plating. Some had wings—ranging from two to more than six—and others bore multiple limbs. Their faces were concealed by strange masks made from unknown materials, carved with intricate patterns. Only their glowing eyes and pitch-black sclera could be seen through the slits.
Despite their intimidating size, these monsters were not violent. Still, they clearly did not belong to the natural fauna of the Elemental World.
The creatures were eventually dubbed “Dragons”, after one of them was found with peculiar symbols etched into the armor of one of its lower limbs. The markings resembled damaged script that, when interpreted, could be read as the word “dragon.”
Like the humans of this world, the Dragons were able to control Elemental Energy. Each one wielded a specific element, just like the people and creatures of the world.
Although they were strangely peaceful, these creatures suffered from an intense thirst. They drank vast quantities of water daily, both fresh and saltwater, due to their immense size.
The true danger became apparent thanks to a special people—the Dihamanty Clan, who had refused to join any of the great nations. The Dihamanty were known for their mastery of science, geography, and geology. Unlike other groups, they could control not only a natural element but also a rare material element: Diamond.
This clan foresaw something no one else had noticed—a devastating global drought was imminent.
The Dragons' consumption of water, particularly freshwater, was putting a strain on all life in the world. Humans, animals, and plants alike were being affected as rivers and springs began to dry up.
Alarmed, the leaders of the four nations called an emergency meeting to develop a response to the crisis.
However, the gathering descended into chaos. The advisors and emperors failed to agree on a solution. Fighting the Dragons seemed impossible; these creatures were massive, possessed elemental powers, and wore nearly impenetrable armor. Defeating even one of them seemed out of reach.
Then, a voice interrupted the tension—an elderly man stepped forward, his green robes marked with the symbol of his clan.
“We have a solution, Emperors,” he declared confidently.
“Who are you?!” demanded the Earth Emperor.
“We are the Dihamanty Clan, Emperor of Earth. And we have found a way to resolve this crisis.”
“Please, sit with us,” said the Wind Emperor, motioning for the old man to join him.
The elder took a breath and pressed his hands together before continuing.
“We have captured one of these Dragons using our unique material element: Diamond. Only the Diamond wielded by our clan can pierce the armor that shields these creatures. We managed to kill it and discovered something crucial—these Dragons are made of pure energy. Once their armor is broken and their skin is pierced, their blood evaporates, and their armor disintegrates. The one we captured wielded Fire Elemental Energy. When it died, its body combusted and vanished into flames.”
The room fell into stunned silence as the leaders absorbed this revelation.
“We have no time to waste,” the elder warned. “If these creatures continue to consume water, they will destroy all life.”
“What do you suggest we do?!” asked the Fire Emperor, visibly shaken.
Just then, explosions and distant roars echoed from beyond the palace walls—Dragons had begun attacking human settlements.
“We must hold them off while we create four Elemental Diamonds. These relics will absorb the Dragons’ energy through sealed magic, eliminating the need to kill them one by one. Since they are made of pure energy, I believe we can seal them completely.”
“Why four diamonds instead of just one?” asked the Earth Emperor.
“Each diamond will be attuned to a different element—Wind, Fire, Earth, and Water—so they can absorb the energy of the Dragons that match their affinity,” the elder explained.
“How long will this take?” asked another emperor.
“Four months—one for each diamond. Humanity must resist until then.”
The leaders were doubtful. How could they hold out for four whole months?
But outside, the first battles of what would become a long and brutal war had already begun.
Over the course of those four months, the world grew ever drier. Food and water became scarce. Communities suffered. Many lives—both human and animal—were lost. But thanks to the unmatched strength of the Dihamanty Clan and their Diamond Element, humanity endured. The Dihamanty led the defense of the world.
When the four months were up, the Dihamanty unveiled the Elemental Diamonds:
- A green diamond for Wind
- A red diamond for Fire
- A brown diamond for Earth
- A sky-blue diamond for Water
Each was designed to absorb the Elemental Energy of Dragons aligned with that element.
Even as each relic was being forged, it was put to use. Each diamond was used in battle to seal Dragons of its own type, one by one.
No one knows exactly how long it took to seal the last of the mysterious beasts.
Ninety percent of the Dihamanty perished in the war or in the process of creating the relics. The world was left devastated. Those who survived began the long and painful process of rebuilding what had been lost.
The Dihamanty were hailed as heroes. They had saved humanity—and its future.
When the diamonds completed their purpose, they were sealed inside special black boxes and entrusted to each of the four nations. Each emperor took one back to their land.
Years passed, and the nations recovered. In time, they discovered that touching the diamonds with bare hands allowed warriors with matching elemental affinities to absorb some of the Dragons’ energy, granting them immense power.
The diamonds became weapons of war and symbols of strength.
This discovery gave rise to Elemental Martial Arts—the fusion of combat and Elemental Energy. Many people now sought power through training, hoping to earn their place in the military—and perhaps one day access the strength sealed within a Dragon Diamond.
Generations have passed.
And now, the true story begins—in the Western Nation, the Elemental Nation of Wind.
